
“Going Miles, Bringing Smiles” (GMBS) is a project initiated by
youths from the Paya Lebar Kovan Youth Group together with
volunteers in collaboration with foreign NGO –
Family Care Cambodia, Cornerstone Project. [1]
It aims to improve the quality of life for orphans, abandoned children, widows, handicapped, blind and the poor in and around Phnom Penh through providing basic needs such as food, clothing, medical attention, educational and job opportunities.
Our project aims to provide:
(i) educational support
(ii) other much-needed support and resources to the underprivileged children residing in the orphanages.
(iii) expose Singaporean youths to the reality and poverty of the world and the efforts that could be made to empower this community for change
(iv) create long-term and sustainable project by Singaporean youths in collaboration with the NGO to work towards education and community development.
