These are the chronicles on the journey of understanding the imagination of China by overseas Chinese. Well, that's me. 3rd (I think, someone correct me.) generation overseas-born Chinese, Teochew, with ancestors from Chao An 'zheng' (town) in Guangdong 'shen' (province) in China, Singaporean. English educated, brought up with Western lenses on viewing the world.
Now rediscovering his roots amidst China's massive nationalist soft power world media vehicles whilst based in Melbourne. And realising that Chinese is a huge misnomer unable to represent the vast divides, ethnicities and stratas of China's 'official' list of 55+1 peoples (1 being the overwhelming han majority).
This blog mainly extracts articles and information from sites based in three countries - China, Singapore and Australia.
